Cookie Consent Banner
You may have recently noticed a new cookie approval banner which is now live on your website. Although this option has always been available, we are now enabling this for all websites by default. This is important to help ensure your website complies with GDPR and any other privacy laws, in addition to your own responsibilities. Where possible, it prevents scripts added by you or us that will install cookies from running until consent is given. However, we cannot guarantee that any scripts you add will be covered.
It is also important to note that it is still your responsibility to check that your website is compliant with GDPR and any other privacy laws. We highly recommend that you seek further advice from a legal professional.
How it works
The banner presents users with the option to consent to the storage of non-essential cookies on their device. They can also choose which types of cookies are used. To accompany this, you will also need a Privacy Policy on your website explaining how you use cookies; see below for more information. As an example, you can read what we say about the cookies on our own website by clicking here.
Changing your banner settings
If you would like to turn off your cookie approval banner, you may do so in your settings, go to CMS Settings > Privacy > Cookie consent/cookie notifications. Please remember that disabling this banner is at your own risk and you may be contravening privacy laws, especially if you use Google Analytics or use any other non-essential cookies on your website. This could make you vulnerable to potential legal action from visitors to your website so it is important to know what cookies are in use on your website.
What you can expect
Having the cookie approval banner enabled means that those users who choose to disable tracking cookies or ignore it will be removed from the data you collect within Google Analytics or other tracking solutions. This will impact the accuracy of your tracking data going forward.
Important limitations and your responsibilities
Our built-in cookie banner only affects cookies that are used by features directly built into the website. It does not work for any third-party scripts or plugins that you or any appointed developer has installed within the code of your website using the CMS or Google Tag Manager, therefore the cookies might be added to visitors’ browsers regardless of their choices on the banner and may lead you to think that they are being blocked, which leaves you open to legal action. Such additional cookies may include but are not limited to tracking scripts such as a Facebook pixel or HubSpot integration.

Cookie banner issues
If you cannot see the cookie banner appear on your website, please do get in touch with us immediately so we can ensure you have the correct settings enabled.
Privacy Policy
GDPR guidelines require you to include a Privacy Policy on your website. This outlines your policy on data handling and the purpose of the cookies that you use on your website. You may need to check the wording of this with your legal team or whoever oversees legal matters in your organisation. We are unable to advise on the content of your privacy policy. To find out how to enable your privacy policy page, please visit our support guide.
