Step 3: Online sales setup
Currency conversion, tax percentages, notifications, and shopping cart weight calculations for shipping.
Where do I manage this?
Find your store settings in Settings > Online sales setup.
You can change these settings at any time, and perfect them before making your store available to the public (going 'live').
Currencies
Base currency
In order for visitors to add items to their shopping cart, the currency selected in the record must be the same as the base currency.
- Choose the currency of the country you're located in as your base currency.
- If you require multiple currencies, you can use the Currency conversion feature explained below.
Currency conversion
Select which currencies your visitors will be able to choose from.
If the currency you need isn't on this list please let us know.
Conversion fee percent
This percentage field allows you to add an additional amount on top of each currency conversion, due to potential loss at the time of conversion.
VAT rates
Integrated websites
If you have an Artlogic Database, the tax that displays at checkout will come directly from the Artwork record > Financial tab > Retain price & tax > Tax rate of the artwork record.
Publication and Product records
The Base VAT rate will apply to all publications and products unless the Publication VAT rate or Product VAT rate overrides are used in Settings > Settings > Online sales setup.
Standalone websites
Artwork, Publication, and Product records
If you do not have an Artlogic Database, the Base VAT rate will apply to all items unless the Artwork VAT rate, Publication VAT rate, or Product VAT rate overrides are used in Settings > Settings > Online sales setup.
Artwork records can be customised individually in Artwork record > Tax rate > Customise tax rate.
Multiple tax rates
If a shopping cart has two artworks with two different tax rates, the following will occur:
Artwork 1
£1,000
£20 — 20% Tax/VAT rate applied in Artwork record (20% of £1,000)
Artwork 2

£15 — 15% Tax/VAT rate applied in Artwork record (15% of £1,000)
£35 = Total tax/VAT charged
