By default your website Artist page is sorted alphabetically. You can edit the order in which your artists appear for viewers. This guide will show you how to change the order of your artists.
How to change the order of artists
The default artist sort
Artists on your website are automatically sorted alphabetically by the Artist records' Sort fields in the website CMS.
Steps to modify the sort order
These steps are applicable for standalone and integrated clients.
- Login to your website CMS.
- Go to Records > Artists
- Find the artist you wish to reorder and click the pencil edit button.
- Change the artist name sort field to have a value that sorts it as you would wish on the front end.
Information added to the Artist name sort will not appear in the front end.
Tip: To override the default alphabetical order, letters or numerals can be used to indicate the order within the artist sort field. Information added to the artist name sort will not appear in the front end. For example, if you wish for a name to come up first you could precede or replace the 'sort as' "surname, first name" with the numeral '1', as numerals precede letters in the list.
Further info for integrated clients
For those with an integrated website and database, it is important to note that any new sort applied to your artists within the database will also automatically reflect on the website.
If you need a different order to show online from the sort order in your database, you will want to update the artist sort from your website CMS after making any changes to the order in your database.
