Add downloadable documents
This guide explains how to create hyperlinked text that, when click by visitors, will download an attached document that your visitors can save to their device.
Documents
Steps
In your CMS, go to: File > Documents > All documents.
- Select 'Upload documents' at the bottom of the page.
('New collection' allows you to group files together under a subject of your choice for easy filing). - After the document is uploaded, you will see a 'path' generated in the ‘Document filepath’ column. Please copy this path.
- Now go back to whichever area you want the document to be available (i.e. an exhibition record, press record, your About page etc).
- There are two ways to add this to your chosen page.
- In the 'Links' field of a record, you will be able to add your path to the designated 'Path' field, labelling your link using the 'Label' field. After you have saved your record, your link will appear below the records main content.
- Alternatively, in a text field, type in how you want the link to download the document to display. It could read ‘Download PDF here’ or whatever suits you best. Now, highlight your text and select on the 'chain link' icon in the toolbar above the content block.
- Now, paste in filepath you have copied previously into the ‘Link URL’ field. This creates a hyperlink which your visitors can click on to download the document. Under ‘Target’, you can set whether this PDF should first open in the same window or a new window, through which they can download the file. Finally, click 'Insert' and 'Save' you record.

Other ways to add documents
There are other ways to add documents (and images) to your website.
Example
If you are wanting to add a document to an Artist record, you can click the 'Upload document' button. This will allow you to upload your document directly, without having first save it in the Documents section of your CMS. By clicking 'CV' this will tell the system to recognise your document as the artist's CV. It is worth noting that you can use your saved documents for this function as well.
