This article explains why you might want to detach a child edition from its master record and how to do this.
Why detach a child edition?
If you want to edit an edition's artwork details, like 'Artist', 'Stock number', 'Title', Date', 'Medium' and other artwork details, you are able to detach the record from the master.
Remember, detached records are not updated when the master record is changed, and their main details (medium, dimensions, etc) can be edited.
How to detach a record
- Find the child edition you wish to separate from its master record and click the 'pencil edit' icon.
- In the edit screen, go to the Edition tab.
- Scroll the 'Edition details' and click 'Detach from master record'.
- You will now notice that the Edition tab has changed to the Artwork tab and you are now able to make edits to the artwork records detail.
Reattach your edition
You are able to revert this change by clicking 'Reattach to master' under the record's Artwork tab, under 'Series'.
