There are a number tools in the Artlogic database that allow you to export artwork images to an excel spreadsheet. If you're exporting artworks from one Artlogic database to another, our newly added field for image filenames in the export screen allows for a much easier workflow. This guide runs through the steps.
Requirements: To complete the below steps, you will need the Artlogic Chrome extension and the necessary user permissions for exporting data.
Steps
-
Log into your Artlogic database > go to Artworks and find the records you wish to export from your database.
-
Go to Create... > Export...
-
Using the custom export tool, choose the fields you want to export, making sure you include the "Images" column - this will export the image filenames of any images associated with the artwork records.
-
Next, you will need to use the Artlogic Chrome extension to download the artwork images (this guide explains how to use our Chrome extension). Make sure to select the option for "Original" and the "Include secondary images..." if you also want to export these too.
-
If you compare your exported spreadsheet and the downloaded image files you should find that the filenames listed match. Eg:
Importing these files and images into a new Artlogic database
- In the Artlogic database you would like to import the artworks into, head to Artworks > Tools > Import and follow the steps in the import wizard. This guide walks through this in more detail: Artworks Import Tool.
- Once you have uploaded your spreadsheet for importing you should then have the option to upload the images you previously downloaded.
-
After completing the import process the new artworks that you imported should also have the imported images associated with them. This process supports both main and secondary images.
